Governor Abbott Appoints Mooney To Brazos County Regional Mobility Authority

Governor Greg Abbott appointed Karl Mooney, Ed.D. as the presiding officer of the Brazos County Regional Mobility Authority for a term set to expire on February 1, 2027. The Authority is a political subdivision that allows local transportation planning and project delivery leaders to partner with the state to deliver transportation infrastructure projects that serve Brazos County.

Karl Mooney, Ed.D. of College Station is the director of the general studies program and transition academic programs advising at Texas A&M University. Previously, Mooney served as Mayor, City Councilman, and on the Planning and Zoning Committee for the City of College Station. He is the founder’s group chairman of YMCA of the Brazos Valley, nominating chair of the Sam Houston Council Scouting America, and a choir member at Christ Church. Mooney received a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Trenton State College, a Master of Arts in Urban Education from Jersey City State College, and a Doctor of Education in Reading from Lehigh University.

This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.

Governor Abbott Reappoints Moore to Brazos County Regional Mobility Authority

Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Daniel B. “Barry” Moore as the presiding officer of the Brazos County Regional Mobility Authority for a term set to expire on February 1, 2025. The Authority is a political subdivision that allows local transportation planning and project delivery leaders to partner with the state to deliver transportation infrastructure projects that serve Brazos County.

Daniel B. “Barry” Moore of College Station is a partner at Stafford Barrett Commercial Brokerage and a partner at Sago Capital. He is a former member of the College Station Planning & Zoning Commission and served one term on the College Station City Council. He is a former board member of the Aggie Real Estate Network. Governor Abbott first appointed him to the Authority in 2021. Moore received a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from Texas A&M University.

Public speakers at the September 20 Brazos County Commission meeting included two opponents to the November election referendum asking Brazos County voters to approve a $10 increase in vehicle registration fees to provide funding for transportation projects through the Brazos County Regional Mobility Authority (RMA).

WTAW news director Bill Oliver asked RMA Chairman Barry Moore to respond to the public speakers and ask other questions regarding the purpose of the RMA.
